It’s amazing to think that 10 years ago this week, Nashville was thrust into one of the worst natural disasters any of us had seen. If you lived through the rain on May 1st and 2nd, you remember the ceaseless downpours.  Once the sun came out, it was standing water everywhere. I remember seeing the Cumberland River at the bottom of my street for about a week..and its banks were over half a mile away!

What the flood meant for so many of us was a time to come together and help our neighbors. Week after week of clean up, rebuilding, fundraising, and community healing. If you remember, this was also on the tail end of the recession of 2008. The flood of 2010 brought a new focus besides the economy for so many of us and led Nashville into one of the biggest growth spurts the city has ever experienced.

Now, ten years later, we are under stay at home orders and still trying to recover from the devastating tornadoes. We miss the hugs and the community that Nashville is known for but know that once we are cleared, we’ll get right back to helping our neighbors.

We thought this would be a good time to look back at the changes over the last ten years. The Nashville skyline has exploded, and we have great new attractions and neighborhoods. We hope you enjoy a look back and we look forward to meeting you on the banks of the river soon!
